City of Spokane Deploys M4 Fiber for Managing its Municipal Network Infrastructure

New fiber management tools provide geographic location of fiber cables, outside plant and building-to-building connections.

April 28, 2009 – RICHMOND, VA – Mapcom Systems, developers of the M4 Solutions Software Suite, announced today the deployment of M4 Fiber which will be used to manage the network and share the infrastructure knowledgebase for government buildings located in Spokane, Washington.

Within M4 Fiber, networks are shown on a geographic map from the point of origin to the premise and all points in between. The technology provides instant views of available fibers and capacity, color-coded splice diagrams and built-in fiber-fill analysis tools. Implementation of these software tools reduces the risk of lost data and ensures future network reliability by capturing network connectivity and sharing infrastructure information.

“M4 Fiber will provide a centralized location to capture and share infrastructure records, making it possible for multiple departments to have instant access to information on fiber runs, outside plant and building-to-building connections. In addition, all departments will be able to visualize the city’s network infrastructure, in a geographic context.” explains John Granger, President and CEO of Mapcom Systems.
