Mapcom’s upcoming Users Conference offers many benefits for its attendees. From on-site optional trainings with our experts, to social events enabling networking opportunities, to sitting down one-on-one with an individual who knows your project best, the opportunities are endless! Today, we’re interviewing Client Care Manager, Elyse Granger Crawford, on some of the unique experiences offered at our annual M4 Users Conference!

What’s your favorite part about our annual Users Conference?

A lot of us at Mapcom say that prepping for the Users Conference feels like getting ready for the holidays, and I totally agree with that! There’s a lot of work to do and a lot to think about, but it’s something we look forward to year-round, and the anticipation of seeing our clients and spending time with them feels like our reward at the end. If I had to narrow down a favorite part of Users Conference, I’d have to say that just spending time with our clients is high on the list. It’s so great to have face-to-face conversations with the folks we email and call every day. In Client Care, we try to have relationships with our users that go beyond how M4 is working for them; we want to help make their days better and lives easier. I really love chatting with folks during the dine-around and the optional outings! If you’re a first-time attendee, I highly recommend checking those out… meeting other M4 users and hanging out with the Mapcom team in a more casual and fun setting is a great way to kick off the conference!

A unique part of Users Conference is the opportunity to sit down one-on-one with one our project experts. Can you walk us through the One-on-One process and what it entails?

I’d be happy to! So you may notice on the Users Conference brochure and on our website, there’s an area where you can select a “One-on-One” meeting with a project expert—definitely sign up! Whether you’re new to your company or this is your 8th Users Conference, having a one-on-one with an expert on your project is time well-spent. I’ll walk you through what happens next…

  • 3-4 weeks before the conference begins, you will receive an email from me asking if there’s anything in particular you want to discuss during your session. This will help me schedule the right person to meet with you, and give them time to research any talking points you’ll want to discuss.
  • 2 weeks prior to the conference, I will send you a calendar invite with the day, time, and location of your one-on-one session. If you’d like to make changes or schedule a different time, I will try my best to make that happen!
  • 1 week before the conference begins, your project expert may reach out to you asking if there are any other items you’d like to talk about during your session. Fire away!
  • During the conference, if you have any questions about the logistics surrounding your one-on-one, please feel free to come find me…I’m friendly! 🙂 I’ll answer any questions you have and make sure you get the maximum benefit from your one-on-one session.

Don’t worry about scrambling to take notes during your session—every one-on-one session will have an assigned note-taker to jot things down so you can focus on getting your questions answered and spending time with your project expert. The note-taker will send you the notes when your session concludes.

You’ve been involved with many Users Conferences, what do you feel is the biggest takeaway from the event?

I’ve been a part of Users Conference planning for 6 years (and my family has been involved for even longer than that!) Year after year, the thing that invigorates me the most is the excitement everyone feels as they leave the conference—it’s practically contagious! Our users have spent a week learning the latest and greatest tricks in M4 and when the conference ends they are eager to get back and put what they’ve learned into action. We often hear from GMs and Managers that their employees returning from the conference have infused new ideas and new enthusiasm into their projects. I’m excited to share all the cool things we have in store for everyone this year!
