Staff Accountant

Purpose:

 

Mapcom Systems is seeking a Staff Accountant who possesses superior customer service skills and has vast knowledge of accounting best practices. The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for understanding the monthly accounting cycle and assisting in month-end and year-end closes as well as ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Participate in financial standards setting and forecasting process
  • Assist in on-time preparation of financial statements and budgets
  • Assist with tax reporting and returns
  • Assist in internal audits to ensure compliance
  • Support and assist in month-end and year-end close processes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Work with CFO to identify areas of opportunity in controlling costs and strengthening internal controls. Improve finance department processes and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • 2-5 years of prior public or management/operations accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of basic management/operations accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Awareness of business trends
  • In-depth knowledge of financial statements and financial statement analysis
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages (QuickBooks experience preferred)
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills

 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

Executive Assistant

Purpose:  Mapcom Systems is currently looking for an experienced Executive Assistant/Administrative Professional to join our team who will be responsible for the administrative and organizational management of our office. The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks, will be exceedingly well organized and flexible, have a keen eye for detail, and will enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a small office.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide executive assistance to Executive Vice President, Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer
  • Act as a liaison between departments
  • Coordinate and provide support to department heads
  • Schedule meetings for department heads and coordinate conference rooms as needed
  • Revise/finalize PowerPoint presentations for company meetings
  • Manage metrics and KPI’s for department heads
  • Update notes and action item spreadsheets during company and department meetings
  • Manage the preparation process for client visits and meetings, company meetings and social events/outings
  • Ensure front desk coverage and supervise office assistant and their tasks; coordinate/delegate admin tasks within admin team as needed
  • Maintain front desk relief schedule for admin staff and provide relief as scheduled
  • Prepare travel arrangements for CEO and Executive Team
  • Assist with special projects/tasks as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • 3+ years’ experience in an office management capacity (small business experience preferred)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Excellent communication and time management skills

Data Integration Developer

Mapcom Systems is a Richmond-based company providing software to the telecommunications industry. Our clients are telecoms that range in size from large regional carriers to local rural communities. The telecommunications industry is entering a dynamic period of change and our goal is to partner with our clients to provide them with the processes and tools necessary to bring high-speed broadband to their communities.

Mapcom Systems is currently seeking a Data-Integration Developer responsible for performing system analysis, development, testing and implementation of applications and databases for client/server, Web, and PC-based software; as well as integrating third-party data sources.  Candidates must be proficient in coding database applications with experience in development, test and production environments.

Experience
Experience with SQL Server and T-SQL is required.
Experience with multiple programming languages is required, with C#, .NET, and Web Services preferred.
Must also be proficient in the analysis, data mapping, transforming and transferring of data from a variety of data formats using a variety of methods.
Candidates should have familiarity with the full product development lifecycle and will be expected to solve complex problems efficiently, with advanced SQL techniques.
Experience with ETL tools to move data to and from internal and external applications.
Effective communication with team members, managers and customers will be essential.
Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

SQL Developer

Mapcom Systems is looking for a passionate SQL Developer to help grow our brand and business by working on one of the premier software solutions in the telecommunications industry. You will be working and learning closely with our Data Integration teams and will have the opportunity to sharpen your existing technical skills while gaining and developing new skills to add to your technical expertise.

 

Purpose:

Mapcom Systems is seeking a SQL Developer to script, test, and install data integration solutions linking client data from disparate systems into a centralized software solution. We are seeking technically-minded problem solvers who are capable of implementing and developing data integration solutions in support of our clients worldwide.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Transfer data between different software and database applications
  • Integrates multi-vendor billing, accounting, customer service, GPS and network monitoring applications
  • Capable of troubleshooting technical issues; SQL is most common
  • Ability to solve complex problems, provide timely updates, and prioritize multiple projects
  • Implement database integration solutions using SQL

 

Position Requirements:

  • 6-12 months of proven work experience in Information Technology or Software Development
  • Experience with, C#, .NET or other SQL systems
  • Comfortable using SQL Server Management Studio and writing Transact-SQL
  • Understanding of SQL, relationship databases, and entity relationship diagrams
  • Excels working in small project teams while managing concurrent project milestones
  • Effectively communicate project and task updates with colleagues, management, and clients

 

Education:

Implementation Team Lead

Mapcom Systems is looking for a passionate IT professional to join our team as an Implementation Team Lead to help grow our brand and business by working on one of the most effective and customizable software solutions in the telecommunications industry. This position will serve as the internal team lead for the implementation of one of our most in-demand and sought-after software modules for multiple clients.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Implementation Team in the gathering the following technical requirements:
    • Define Assignment database objects
    • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) database objects
    • Create Process Flows
    • Attend Weekly Meetings
  • Ensure project prerequisites are complete
  • Lead and implementation team on the following project managers
    • Attend Onsite Requirements Gathering Meetings
    • Participate in weekly calls
    • Update Microsoft Project Plans
    • Assign tasks to Assignment Data Integration Specialist via Asana
    • Monitor project progress
    • Work with Implementation Team as a whole to eliminate blockers
  • Assist in training end users remotely, in the office, or at the client location
  • Work with the team to ensure GoLive is a success

 

Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of prior IT experience required, prior management experience preferred
  • Prior OSP/ISP knowledge is a plus
  • Prior SQL knowledge required, preferred ideally familiar with joining multiple tables and using different joins
  • Solid organizational skills, including multi-taking and time management
  • Ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, implementation plans, schedules, and step by step action plans
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure

 

Education/Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred
