Project Manager

Purpose:

Roles and Responsibilities:

Administrative Assistant

Telecom Fiber & Circuits Analyst

Reports to:  Director of Product Delivery

Mapcom Systems is a Richmond-based company providing software to the telecommunications industry. Our clients are telecoms that range in size from large regional carriers to local rural communities. The telecommunications industry is entering a dynamic period of change and our goal is to partner with our clients to provide them with the processes and tools necessary to bring high-speed broadband to their communities.

Mapcom Systems is currently seeking a local Telecom professional with a solid understanding of fiber and circuit-based networks at the physical and logical layers.  Experience using Netcracker, MetaSolv, Cramer and Granite Xng systems is a plus. The position involves internal and external consulting as a technical analyst in conjunction with our M4 Software Solution Suite.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in provisioning circuits, creating a CLR/DLR, and/or monitoring and maintaining the reliability and performance of telecommunications networks from the perspective of an ILEC, CLEC or other service provider. Strong analytical abilities and problem solving experience is required. Effective communication with team members, managers and customers will be essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of software delivery projects that are heavily focused on managing telecommunications network and circuits
  • Work in billable capacity on customer projects under the direction of the assigned project manager, including:
    • Field audits of CO and remote equipment
    • Conversion of customer circuit/equipment records into the M4 database
    • Training of Mapcom and customer staff in conversion techniques
    • Creating network connectivity models; representing splices and terminations
    • Creating DLR/CLR reports and training customers on creating same
  • Work with Product Manager (Fiber and Circuits) in support of M4 modules and integrations
  • Work with Product Manager (Data Integrations) in support of integrations
  • Assist with on-site data reviews as necessary to gauge scope and estimate conversion effort

Digital Cartographers - FT

Mapcom Systems is currently seeking a full time digital cartographer to assist with the physical and logical build out of our telecommunications customers’ networks.  This position will be responsible for accurately modeling both Inside Plant and Outside Plant telecommunications networks, including buildings, network elements, fiber, copper, coax, and other telecommunication network elements.  This position may include direct contact with our clients to gather data, address questions, and provide status on projects.  Also responsible for building and maintaining positive professional relationships with the Mapcom project managers by maintaining regular communication, both written and verbal.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or GIS majors preferred

QA Tester

Purpose:

Mapcom Systems is seeking a QA Tester to provide the means and measures for testing all the aspects of a software solution, both functionally and technically, in order to meet the requirements and overall quality of the intended solution.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
  • Back-end database testing in Microsoft SQL environment including validating data, stored procs, jobs and triggers.
  • Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
  • Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts.
  • Create clear, concise detail oriented test plans/cases.
  • Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
  • Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members
  • Serve as liaison for development, project management, and customer support and utilize communication skills (written and verbal) to communicate bugs to developers and other stakeholders to ensure ability to write test plans and test cases.
  • Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
  • Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • 3+ years of relevant QA technical experience
  • 2+ years of relevant automated testing experience
  • Experience in Quality Management Software and Processes
  • Knowledge and experience using Telerik Test Studio or other automated, “record and play” scripting products
  • Knowledge and experience of the technical aspects of software solution testing
  • Strong understanding of business processes
  • Expertise in database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments including designing and manipulating test data, validating stored procs, jobs, triggers and replication.

Program Manager

Reports to:  Director of Solutions Delivery

Mapcom Systems is currently seeking a Program Manager with a thorough understanding of project management best-practices and the ability to manage a team of project managers to deliver efficient and effective solutions to our clients.  The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader, both internally to Mapcom and with our clients, with experience in managing a small team of project managers and technical resources to produce results in a timely manner.  Software solutions being delivered by your team include service order workflows, trouble ticketing, inventory management, GIS mapping solutions, custom reports and others.

Prior experience in delivering/managing software products and process solutions to telecommunications providers is a plus, though this is not required.  Strong analytical abilities and problem solving experience is required. Effective communication with team members, managers and customers will be essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Project Managers to deliver quality on-time results
  • Work in a billable capacity to provide guidance to team and clients on planning, risk management and problem resolution
  • Work with Product Managers to enhance M4 modules and integrations
  • Serve as first point of escalation for clients with projects concerns
  • Lead and evaluate project managers, Digital Cartographers and Data Integration Developers
  • Apply change, risk, and resource management
  • Attend weekly client status calls held by your staff

Software Product Manager

Mapcom Systems is seeking a Web Application Developer to perform system analysis, develop, test and implement applications and databases for a full suite of software solutions primarily web based applications as well as client/server and third-party integrations.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coding, testing and debugging programs according to specifications
  • Creating, modifying, expanding and updating primarily web applications
  • Integrating third-party data sources

 

Position Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience with a strong background in C#, ASP.NET, MVC, Windows Forms, JQuery, AJAX and SQL Server
  • Proficient in the analysis, mapping, transforming and transferring of data from a variety of data formats using a variety of methods
  • Prior experience developing fiber management and circuit management functionality is a plus
  • Experience with GIS/CAD applications, Java, Telerik, Xamarin, or XML/Web Services/API is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic skills
  • Ability to quickly master new technologies and work in a constantly evolving environment

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is required
