M4 Solutions software will help Kansas City Power & Light manage operations and infrastructure visually.

February 20, 2013 – RICHMOND, VA – Mapcom Systems, a leading provider of visual operations management software, announced today Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L), an investor-owned electric utility based in Kansas City, Missouri, has selected M4 Solutions as the operations solution to help manage its inside and outside networks for facilities located in Kansas and Missouri.

The M4 Solutions software includes comprehensive design and mapping tools, integrated work order, fiber and central office management and various support applications, such as workforce management, services management and CPR integration. The M4 software is designed to map the entire telecom plant facility from the central office to the customer structure. The software then ties each map item back to an individual database record, which is then integrated with the telephone company’s existing customer, assignment and billing records.

“KCP&L needed a system that could database both outside plant facilities and equipment records,” said Joe Mellott, manager at KCP&L. “The M4 Solution provides us the ability to track out fiber cables, splices and the fiber optic equipment. In addition, we can now create circuit layout records for all of our voice and data circuits,” added Mellott.
